Frontera Search are recruiting for an Lead Flight Software Engineer to develop software for our customer who have multiple missions due for launch.

This is an opportunity to produce bullet-proof and reliable code that ensures error-free satellite operation for space missions whilst leading a team of 3 engineers.

Responsibilities

• In charge of low-level system programming, with full responsibility during the whole development cycle from conceptual design, through ground testing and space operations, to end of life procedures
• Design, develop, produce, and test all software from phase 0/A to F
• Define software activities for the concept of operations (CONOPS)
• Development of relevant software related documentation and support documentation for the onboard data handling subsystem
• Development of simulations, test plan, and evaluation plan of onboard software
• Overview of SW integration, and direct responsible for SW/HW interaction code
• Co-develop and maintain a software quality evaluation system
• Flat satellite Assembly Integration and Testing (AI&T)
• Ensure software compatibility with the whole system
• Other tasks include; budget analysis, development of code for RTOS and non RTOS, software-in-the-loop simulation, write or modify device drivers, develop and maintain applications for flight code and flight management

Requirements

• Excellent knowledge of the software lifecycle, with direct experience and strong capability of coding, debugging, testing, troubleshooting in all phases of development
• Applied knowledge of bit level data analysis and various operating environments
• Excellent knowledge of SW interface management
• Excellent knowledge of SW/HW interface management including communication protocols
• Hands on experience of embedded programming (C mandatory)
• Techniques to improve software maintainability
• Hands on experience in assembly, integration and operation of HW test equipment
• Hands on experience with software test tools / software management tools
• Experience with safety policy and regulations, including communication protocols, security protocols, etc.
